Benchmarking Your Digital Strategy

Ten questions to test whether a digital strategy is still valid, differentiating and delivering.

Having a digital strategy is a real achievement for a company. Benchmarking it regularly against industry practice and major competitors is what keeps it relevant. The questions below are a practical starting point for checking whether a digital strategy is still valid.

  • Is it still innovative?
  • Is it customer-centric enough, or should it go further toward customer obsession?
  • Is it still valid, or should the surrounding digital tactics be revisited?
  • Does it differentiate the company from competitors?
  • Does it still provide a competitive advantage?
  • Has it achieved a positive return on investment?
  • What would have happened without it?
  • Has customer experience and satisfaction improved, as reflected in customer behavior and loyalty?
  • Is speed to market acceptable?
  • Is implementation efficient and effective?

The list could be longer. The essential point is to evaluate the digital strategy regularly and in a structured way, since the digital environment changes with increasing frequency.
